Yesterday = day passed = hôm qua
- Hôm = day
- Qua = verb “to pass” or the past participle “past”
=>Hôm qua = day passed = yesterday

Tomorrow = future day = ngày mai

Different questions with “mấy”
In “mấy” questions, just replace the “mấy” with a number.
- Hôm nay là thứ mấy? = Today is what day of the week?
- Hôm nay là ngày mấy? = Hôm nay là ngày nào? = Today is what date/day?
Example 1:
– Hôm nay là thứ mấy? = What day of the week is it today?
– Hôm nay là thứ hai. = Today is Monday.
Example 2:
– Hôm nay là ngày mấy? = Today is What is today’s date?
– Hôm nay là ngày 31 tháng 12= Today is the 31st of December.
Mấy tháng & tháng mấy
- Mấy tháng? = How many months?
- Tháng mấy? =Which month(s)?
Example 1:
– Bạn đi Việt Nam mấy tháng? = You go to Vietnam in how many months?
– Mình đi Việt Nam 2 tháng. = I go to Vietnam in 2 months.
Example 2:
– Bạn đi Việt Nam tháng mấy? = Which month(s) do you go to Vietnam?
– Mình đi Việt Nam tháng 2 = I go to Vietnam in February
Duration + rồi = duration (already) elapsed
Vocabulary
Rồi = already (marker of the past)
Examples:
- Bao lâu rồi? = How long has it been already ?
- Mấy tháng rồi? = How many months has it been already ?
- 3 tháng rồi = It’s been 3 months already .
Trong + duration = duration + nữa = within a certain duration
Vocabulary
Trong = In
Example:
Trong 1 tháng = In one month
1 tháng nữa = One month more
